Afternoon of Stamping with Friends - June 2007

I made this card with a friend and her daughter per their request. Actually I decided we were making a triangle-fold card during our afternoon of stamping and they picked the colors and stamp set. It turned out pretty good I think since it was a complete whim as far as the stamps and colors. First time in a long time I haven't cased someone else's idea, or at least not on purpose.

CARD RECIPE:
Stamps: blooming with happiness
Paper: pale plum, perfect plum, old olive, ds paper, whisper white
Ink: basic black
Accessories: eyelet, retired su cord, blue organdy ribbon,
Techniques: triangle-fold card
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2

We also made the following card. It is a complete case other then colors which my friend's daughter picked out. I'm sorry I don't recall who I cased it from. She had been wanting to use this stamp set for a while and her favorite color is green so I quick looked up a design I knew would take too long to make. This was the third card of the day and I was starting to lose some of my patience. Hyper and indecisive don't mix well with me for a long period of time and this just happened to be one of those days.
Card 2 Recipe:
Stamps: Reason to Smile
Paper: Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Mellow Moss, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive

Sell-a-bration Open House - February 2007

I made these cards to use a newly acquired set & to stock up on some different cards. I actually won this stamp set as a door prize at my upline's Sell-a-bration Open House. I had been admiring her card that resembles the first card I made here and decided that I really wanted the stamp set that was used to make it. Only problem is the stamp set was no longer available. I thought to myself I could go to eBay and get it but I really didn't know if I wanted it that badly. Well it wasn't long before the door prizes were drawn and when my name was called and I got a chance to look through the basket of prizes much to my surprise this stamp set was in there so of course I picked it out. I didn't have the word punch when I made these cards so I just had to wing the little round tabs, as I'm sure you can tell they are a bit loop-sided, but that's okay because they still look nice.

CARD RECIPE #1:
Stamps: Gently Falling
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Cool Caribbean, Whisper White
Ink: Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Large Oval Eyelets

CARD RECIPE #2:
Stamps: Gently Falling
Paper: Lovely Lilac, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Lovely Lilac
Accessories: Large Oval Eyelets

It's a Fairy-Tale Wedding - April 2007

I made this card for my cousin's wedding. I was told by my namesake that the wedding colors were this weird blue, purple, with some silver. I though this must mean that the color was periwinkle so I went with the closest thing to that I could find in my paper stash and came up with this card. The colors were not close to the wedding colors at all but that's okay the card still turned out really nice.

CARD RECIPE:
Stamps: Fairy-Tale Wedding
Paper: Almost Amethyst, Sage Shadow, Blush Blossom, print palette, Silver (non-SU)
Ink: lovely lilac, craft white, Sage Shadow
Accessories: heart brads, ribbon, heart hardware

Save the Date - Jan 07

As a result of my instant obsession and addiction to stamping I volunteered to make my newly engaged friend save the date cards for her upcoming wedding. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. It was alot of fun though I'm not sure if I'll do that much embossing every again. I still seem to get glitter/embossing tinsel on me everytime I enter the craft area of my basement. Here is the design I created and I want to give a special Thanks to Nikki who helped me make these. I ended up making about 100 of these cards.
They were really easy to make once we got the hang of it and formed our little system. The tricky part was the snow flakes on the background. We used the SU Stampin' Around Snowflakes wheel for that part and rolled it in clear embossing ink. We had to do 2 sides at a time since we had no way to hold the paper we did all 4 at once. We also ran into a similar probably for the middle part where I used a store bought stamp saying Save This Date. The heat tool gets so warm that you can't really hold the paper yourself when it's this small. I cut all the pieces first. I ended up using a wooden cloths pin to hold the paper and then heat the embossing tinsel. This was the only way at the time I could come up with so that my fingers didn't get burnt from holding the paper so close to the heating tool. I've since been told that if you put alumnimum foil around a wood clipboard that you can just lay the items you're heat embossing flat on it and it won't scrotch the table underneath it. I wish I had know this then. LOL. The cards turned out very good I think, especially for someone who was just beginning. Any of my friends who see these and would like me to help them for any of their upcoming events let me know and we can work something out.

Engagement Card Needed - Dec 2006

Shortly after starting my stamping adventure a friend of mine told me she was engaged. I was so excited for her and decided that I wanted to use my new found skills of stamping to design a congratulations on your engagement card. This is what I came up with with the help of my upline Conny. Since making this card I have ran with the pattern design and made several more in a whole array of colors. The background is always the same just different colors but the ribbon, hardware, and message in the middle have varied a great deal. Most of the cards I have made since this one with this pattern have been with a birthday message. To see the others with this similar design ... check out my gallery at... http://tinyurl.com/33zq6x
